Pet Cancer Support Group on Pet360

Caring for a pet who has been diagnosed with cancer can be overwhelming. There's so much to learn and often decisions need to be made quickly.

While your vet can be the greatest source of information, online support groups can also help provide information and answers to your questions.

Pet360 has started a group to provide support for pet parents.  You can join the conversation and receive support here.

Since I lost Cosmo to lung cancer late last year, I've learned what a great resource support groups like this one can be. One of the things I wish I had known more about was the quality of life (QOL) scale that Dr. Patrick Mahaney mentions in this message string (go to the third message down).

One of the best things you can do is to be diligent about your pet's health.  Cancer is the number one disease-related killer of dogs and cats. Watch out for these top 10 signs of cancer in pets. If you suspect cancer, or any illness, visit your vet immediately. While there's still so much to learn about treating cancer in pets, early detection and treatment can help manage cancer in pets.

If you have any other great pet cancer resources to share, please post them in the comments below.

  1. We never realised there were support groups. We are sure they make a huge difference with help and support. We are coping with Ancient Pip and feel lucky that she is doing OK in her old age. Have a tremendous Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. This is such great information....so good to know. We lost our golden retriever to cancer last summer. It was caught too late for treatment to be an option, but if I had a dog where treatment was an option, which we did years ago, it would be great to have a support group to help with difficult decisions and sorting through information and treatment options.

  4. Possibly to affect any types of dog, bone cancer is best prevented by awareness and proper diagnosis as well as treatment in the right stage. In many cases, owners believe it is just senile arthritis and muscle spasms and nothing more. This causes elevated levels of tumors that lead to its fatal reasons.
