Chicago Canine Cruise and a Walk Down Navy Pier

Rocco takes in the sights and smells on the Mercury Canine Cruise
What's better than going on a FitDog adventure?

Going on a FitDog adventure with a couple of our bloggie pals!

This past Sunday we met up with Dolly the Doxie and Sugar the Golden Retriever and had three great adventures all rolled up into one FitDog day!

First, Dolly, Rocco and Sugar met up for an early stroll along the Chicago Riverwalk before we boarded the Chicago Mercury Canine Cruise with Dolly and her humom.

Sugar, Rocco and Dolly enjoyed the morning sun and a little visit and a walk.

And then Sugar showed us the must-see sights along the Chicago River. Sugar had already been on the Canine Cruise, so she shared a few tips with us and then bid us a bon voyage.

Dogs, dogs and more dogs on the Canine Cruise!
On Sunday mornings during the summer, the Mercury Skyline Cruises offer a 90-minute Canine Cruise especially for dogs and their humans. It's very similar to the Chicago architectural cruises, where the tour guide talks about the history behind many of the Chicago buildings along the Chicago River.

The cruise starts with a view of Trump Tower, left, and Wrigley Building, middle
But on the Canine Cruise, they also point out the dog-friendly attractions... including the place we stopped for lunch after the cruise -- O'Briens Riverwalk Cafe.

Dolly and Rocco shared a nice visit on the boat.

And Rocco enjoyed the view while going through the Chicago River locks.
It was a beautiful day with spectacular views of the city.

And we also got a preview of the Tall Ships visit to Navy Pier.

After a terrific boat ride, we had lunch and then joined Sugar again for a walk along the River Walk and then off to explore Navy Pier.

Sugar showed Rocco this cool place to pose for pictures, with the reflection of the skyline in the building.

We jumped aboard another boat... the Shoreline Cruise also is dog-friendly and took us over to Navy Pier.

This boat was thoughtfully designed with a viewing portal just for Rocco!

We had a nice walk along Navy Pier...

... and got a closer look at some of the tall ships.

And some of the other attractions too.

All in all it was a terrific day for FitDogs and their FitMoms!

  1. Rocco - so much adventure packed into one day. Love all the photos of the pier and the boating - especially the one of you in the seat on the boat - pretty cool. Sounds like you had a great time with Dollie & Sugar.

  2. What a great adventure Rocco. We can see you had fun. Have a fabulous Friday.
    Best wishes Molly

  3. My Cairns and I are big fans of walking lots and lots. They get at least 2 miles a day, and three times a week they get close to 4. I prefer to run, but they can only go about a mile before they're exhausted. So, the walking keeps them trim and happy :)

  4. Two boats in one day! I'm not going to tell Wilhelm because he'll likely pack a bag and come live with you.

  5. That looks like so much fun! We are hoping Sugar makes it to the Twin Cities this fall so I can show her around. It would be fun to hang out with a blogging pal! What a great day you had to tour and walk!

  6. Wow that looks like it was a blast! I never knew Chicago was so pet friendly. I hope Luna and I can make it there sometime soon! We would love to take a Canine Cruise!

  7. Chicago looks like a blast! And how pawsome it is that you to get to hang out with another dog blogger. :)

  8. So glad that we met up with you again. It was a PAWsome Sunday ... We posted the photo "Have a question, ask me?" on our blog post. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  9. It's so fun to meet up with other bloggers and their dogs. It sounds like you had a busy but fun day. I am kind of tired just reading it :) Great photos.

  10. That is the coolest thing ever! Do you know Two Pitties in the City? They do that too
