Meet BJ Pup: Pet Blogger Gift Exchange

Today we're participating in the Pet Blogger's Gift Exchange, hosted by Something Wagging This Way Comes and I Still Want More Puppies.

Here's how it works.

Anyone who shares their love of animals,  either in a blog or through social media, is eligible to participate, and everyone who signs up is paired with a partner. Then, during December, each gift exchange member shares some love and encouragement by featuring something they've learned about their partner.

BJ Pup
We were excited to be paired with BJ Pup and his mom Lynda at Two Ears and a Tail.

We didn't know much about BJ Pup so it was fun to learn about him. And since BJ is older and wiser -- he'll be 14 in January -- I think he may be able to teach young Rocco a thing or two!

Even though BJ and Rocco are far apart in age, they do have some things in common.
  • They both celebrate Hanukkah
  • They both like city parks -- BJ likes to frequent Central Park in New York City
  • They both make their moms very happy and encourage lots of walks!
  • They both are adorable!

BJ tells this great story of how he adopted his mom Lynda....
When I was a puppy, Lynda walked past my cage in the Humane Society. I sensed that she needed a puppy and I was perfect for her. I adopted her, and after the HS checked her references, she took me home.
As we walked out, the staff person told her that I needed to gain 3 to 4 pounds immediately. Lynda said if someone said that about her, she would make a beeline to Haagen Dazs. (She's really thin.)
Alas, we went to a pet store for food. I guess I couldn't get everything in one day.
I was only a puppy and I knew she was sad and needed comforting. First, she couldn't stay in the house any more after work because she needed to take me out. My terrier spirit, cute face and pink nose had people stopping to pet me and talk.
Soon we joined the 11 p.m. walk with others on the block. It was the beginning. Then we went to Central Park and I ran around and she talked to the other dog owners. We've been doing this ever since. What fun!

We love BJ's "gotcha" story and think that BJ and Lynda were a match that was meant to be.

BJ turned into a handsome pup. He's 15 inches tall, 20 pounds and his coloring is cream and apricot. Lynda was curious about his heritage and had a DNA test done with surprising results. The report said BJ is equal parts Bichon Frise, Cairn Terrier and Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

BJ doesn't buy the part about the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, and I tend to agree. But I found the photo above that claims to be a Chessie and I think I may see a little resemblance to BJ.... just a little!

Anyway, it really doesn't matter because BJ is perfect for Lynda just the way he is!

It was nice getting to know both of you, and we wish for you many more happy walks!

If you want to say "hi" to BJ, he also has his own Facebook page!
