Pup Scouts Get Fit With Fidos and Fight Cancer at K9 Fit Club Workout!

Happy pups and happy people after a K9 Fit Club work out to benefit The Dog and Cat Cancer Fund

No human is too big or dog too small to work out!
We recently held a super fun event for our local Pup Scout troop that helped pets in two ways.

First, the Pup Scouts do lots of events in the community to help dogs in need, so we held a benefit K9 Fit Club class to help raise money for pets with cancer.

All the participants donated money to The Dog and Cat Cancer Fund (DCCF), which helps families who can't afford cancer treatments for their pets as well as conducting research and advocating for early testing for the best possible outcome.

Zuke's helped found The DCCF, and so they very generously also donated treats for our guests to give the pups some healthy energy while they worked out with us!

We held the event at Canine PhD, a local Atlanta dog training facility where I also teach a K9 Fit Club class where folks can come and work out with their pups!

Everyone had a great time and a great workout. And they left feeling great that they also helped a few families and pups in need of cancer treatments.

The pups did some balance work on K9FITbones and on the Step 360 along with their humans!

Then we did some fun cone drills that everyone really got into! Humans ran from cone to cone and had to touch each one while the dogs ran around them.

While everyone was still feeling energetic we did the Wall Sit Challenge! Who do you think won?

It came down to these two and we finally had to call it a draw. I don't think either one was ever going to give up!

Next it was time for some core work with good old fashioned crunches. The pups got a chance to rest at this point and work on their down/stays.

No workout is complete without some glute work. I think the dogs were happy to sit this one out too!

Before the workout was over, the dogs also got the chance to go over some agility jumps, work on more balance and conditioning with balance discs as well as doing some up and overs on a step with their humans.

We fit in some upper body work, and some stretching at the end for both human and canines. And, the lucky dogs got a little massage too!

If you're coming to BarkWorld Expo in Atlanta, I hope you'll join us for an interactive  K9 Fit Club session at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, November 1!  We'll work out with our pups to some fun music and get a great start on the day!

The fun and games continue every Friday with FitDog Friday, the weekly Blog Hop brought to you by To Dog With LoveSlimDoggy and My GBGV Life to promote a healthy active lifestyle for pets (and their people, too!). Join in every Friday by linking up your FitDog story or visiting the blogs in the Hop.

    1. Big dogs can put their front paws on your leg or you can just give them pats to help take your mind off the burn!!

    1. Yes! We held the event as a fundraiser, where instead of paying for the class, folks donated the money to The Dog and Cat Cancer fund. Good for your health and good for the pets who need cancer treatments.
