Rocco's friend Nicky is staying with us again this week. And after all the holiday goodies, and several days of being stuck inside with rainy weather, Christmas day turned out to be the perfect day for a long dog walk to Piedmont Park.
We all needed it!
We headed toward the wetland restoration area of the park, an area that was uncovered during the park expansion in 2008. The springs and wetland ecosystem -- with six water sources -- had been hidden under lots of invasive overgrowth for years.
Now there's a natural path through the area, making it a lovely place to explore some nature right in the middle of the city.
Rocco and his buddy explore a rocky area. There must have been some good wildlife here... something smells intriguing!
What's that sound? Likely a squirrel or chipmunk, or maybe some birds,
There's lots to explore!
On the way back through the park we stop to explore our shadows, too!
Rocco leapt up on this ledge to get a closer look at something... no idea what!
We hope you're having a terrific holiday week. Next week we head to Fort Lauderdale for a family wedding and some Fit Dog fun, too. Of course Rocco gets to come along!
Happy FitDog Friday! How have you managed the extra holiday goodies this season? I'm not used to having so many human treats around the house. It's much easier to control Rocco's portions!
The fun and games continue every Friday with FitDog Friday, the weekly Blog Hop brought to you by To Dog With Love, SlimDoggy and My GBGV Life to promote a healthy active lifestyle for pets (and their people, too!). Join in every Friday by linking up your FitDog story or visiting the blogs in the Hop.
