Four Words You Never Want to Say in Dog Agility

Where.  Am.  I.  GOING???!

Yup, that's what I said during this run with Rocco on an AKC JWW (jumpers with weaves) course. We were running for our Excellent title.

But, alas, I got a bit turned around and Rocco stopped as if to say, "Mom, figure out what it is you want to do and let's get this show going!"

Take a look for yourself...

Rocco ran brilliantly, and after the nice judge said to me, "try the double," we both ran the course perfectly!

But that's the fun of agility. You never know what will happen!

The good news is, we feel pretty good that we'll get our title someday...  since Rocco rocked it!  Now I just need to remember the course!

We have a few more trials coming up in April, so we'll have more chances to run and get back in the groove. It's been a long winter off from competing. Stay tuned!

What do you think Rocco was thinking during that pause in the action?

  3. BOL & LOL ~ you got the crowd to laugh, and still finished your run with a positive attitude ~ that's worth a lot! Rocco was probably thinking "Really, mom?!"

  4. Humans have a knack for messing stuff up! Next time you try it will go better. In nose work we never want to hear where is it as the judge will then ask Mom to point out the specific location so if she didn't know exactly, we lose.

    1. Oh yeah, that's a good point in nose work, too! In agility, the judge will never tell you where to go next. But in this case, we had already DQ'd (disqualified) when I took the wrong jump and I think the judge felt sorry for me (or maybe just Rocco) because I was SO lost!

  7. Oh man! That's a regular occurrence for us in class--Barley's always ready to go and I'm like wait, what's next? I always try to laugh it off, but Barley usually gives me dirty looks :)

    1. hehe! You get better at it over time. It become a series of patterns. I over-rotated and wound up facing the wrong jump... and that got me all out of whack!

  11. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure! I've always wanted to sign our pup, Milo, up for agility but he now has some hip issues and just isn't quick on his feet. But I get to live vicariously through your adventures!

  12. I do not how you remember all of that. You both did great, or as we say in the hunt test world: Rocco did a great job in spite of the handler error. :)

  13. I've always figured that if I tried agility with the dogs, I'd be the weakest link. LOL. It looks tough to me to keep track of what order you are supposed to do everything in. You recovered well though...good job!
