 Five Summer Dangers for Pets

This July 4th weekend, don't let your dog become of the lost-dog statistics. Loud noises like fireworks can cause dogs to bolt, so be sure to keep them in a safe and secure place. Here are five things to keep in mind so you can enjoy a healthy, active summer with your pets.

HOT tips for summer pet safety

In addition to the above, here are our HOT tips to keep in mind this summer.

Hydration is key, especially in the hot summer months. Make sure your pet has access to fresh water both at home and on the road.

Off the hot pavement... keep your pups paws off the hot pavement as well as out of hot cars. That may mean walking early in the morning or later in the evening once the temperature cools a bit.

Turn up the volume inside, so that pets won't be bothered by fireworks outside. Play some music or watch some TV to help drown out the scary noises outside.

We don't go anywhere without water and in addition to our hiking boots (for the dogs), we also have simpler booties as well. The majority of my dogs are dark, so we must pay extra attention that they don't overheat. I think being within a few miles of the launch pads at NASA have helped with the sensitivity to loud noises, as well as having high ceilings and squeaky children, LOL.
