Last weekend Rocco and I headed out for some fun agility practice with all the essentials plus a new water bowl we are trying out from
Torus.
We know how important it is for both of us to have access to plenty of clean, fresh water. And it's extra important to stay hydrated if you're outside and active, even in the winter. So whenever we head out on an adventure we always take extra water for both of us.
Typically I'll bring a few bottles of water, a cooler and a bowl for Rocco. When we learned about Torus, it sounded like a great option whether we're planning a day of agility or a hike in the mountains.
What we love about Torus
The Torus water bowl is auto-replenishing, which means that as your pet drinks from it more water will flow in and fill up the bowl. We're using the 1-liter bowl (it also comes in a two-liter option) so the reservoir in our bowl holds more than four cups of water, plenty for a Rocco-sized dog!
As a general rule, dogs should drink about one ounce of water per pound of body weight each day. Rocco weighs 13 pounds so he should drink about 13 ounces a day or about a cup and a half.

Before we left home, we filled the Torus water bowl with water and then put the valve in the locked position so that the water wouldn't flow out. Water is held in a hollow circular ring around the bowl so it stays cool, fresh and clean inside the vessel until you change the valve to the flow position.
Then, turn the valve to flow and voila! You have fresh, clean water anywhere, anytime! It's perfect for car travel and it's small enough to fit anywhere.
The Torus water bowl also comes with a replaceable carbon filter and it's BPA free, made with food-grade materials.
How it works
The water level in the drinking well is always high enough to allow easy drinking but low enough to minimize water spills and splashes.
- Stored water is contained inside the Torus walls.
- Fresh water is drawn from the walls through the carbon filter.
- The filtered water flows out into the drinking well where it is kept at an optimum level.
It's also sturdy and stable, and because the water level stays low, water-loving pets like Rocco can't splash the water all over the kitchen floor!
If a water bowl isn't anchored to the floor in some way, Rocco will typically either decide to carry it around or shove it across the floor so that it splashes everywhere! So far, Rocco has done neither with the Torus. It's stable, compact and attractive enough to leave on the floor in the kitchen.
We love it! The Torus water bowl is perfect both at home and on the go!
The hardest part about the Torus was choosing which color to pick! It comes in red, blue, and charcoal in two sizes – 2-liters ($59.95) and 1-liter also in pink ($54.95).
