Keep Your Pet Smiling with Yummy Dental Treats! #DogDentalHealth

This post is sponsored by PetSmart, and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about Dental Health Month, but To Dog With Love only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. PetSmart is not responsible for the content of this article.

It's nearing the end of Pet Dental Health Month, but we hope it's just the beginning of (or continuation of) a great dental health routine for your pets!

Did you know that dental disease is the most common disease in both dogs and cats? Over 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats show signs of dental disease by three years of age. And, it can lead to conditions that are a lot worse than bad breath.

As in humans, poor dental health in pets can contribute to heart, lung, liver and kidney disease and can ultimately shorten their lives.  So that means it's super important to take care of your pup's teeth and gums.

How to prevent dental disease

If you're like us, your vet likely has told you to brush your pet's teeth. We try to brush fairly regularly, but since Rocco would rather eat the toothbrush, it's not always so easy, or successful!

So we supplement with healthy dental chews, a regime that Rocco is MUCH more fond of than brushing!

Rocco looks forward to his daily dental chew
Dental treats and chews are an easy way to keep your pet's teeth clean and healthy. And if your pup is anything like Rocco, they'll LOVE their daily chews so much they WON'T let you forget them!

Rocco helps his young friend Sophie get started on the right paw with good dental health!
We headed out to PetSmart® this week in search of some new chews and found an entire aisle filled with dental chews and treats! All of Rocco's favorites were there, and this time we picked up an assortment of WHIMZEESTM,  a chew that comes all the way from Holland. We were so excited to start finding these in the U.S. a few years back!

We picked up the variety value box for small dogs, filled with an assortment of fun shapes! Rocco LOVES the Alligators, so we figured this would give him 3 times the fun and he could give the Toothbrush and Stix shapes a try too!

But first, Rocco works for his chews! Work it, Rocco!

And then, there's the obligatory down/stay. Rocco musters up all the patience he can! Did I tell you he LOVES these chews!

Four reasons to love WHIMZEES

One of the reasons I love WHIMZEES is they take a little longer for Rocco to chew so they keep him occupied while I'm eating, working, talking on the phone... you get the idea! But there are plenty more reasons to love these whimsical chews.
  1. They're fun! Hedgehogs. Alligators. These aren't your typical dog chews. And the dog-loving folks at WHIMZEES introduce new shapes every year. This is one time I won't mind Rocco "eating" the toothbrush!
  2. Simply made, naturally. WHIMZEES has six natural, functional ingredients and no artificial ingredients, colors, flavors, preservatives, GMOs, gluten, or meat. They’re also high in fiber and low in calories and sugars.
  3. No plaque. No tartar. WHIMZEES’ unique shapes ensure proper blood flow through the gums and prevent bad breath and the build-up of tartar.
  4. Great for dogs. Great for the planet. WHIMZEES are produced in a sustainable, socially-responsible way. A healthy world gives us all a reason to smile!

At last! Rocco gets his daily chew! Today it's a WHIMZEES Alligator.

Thank you PetSmart for carrying a great assortment of dental chews and WHIMZEES!
