A Walk Through Not So Dry Falls!

During our recent trip to Highlands, N.C., we took advantage of a short break in the rain to visit four nearby waterfalls.

The heavy rainfalls made the falls even more impressive than usual. Just a short drive down the road from Highlands we viewed Bridal Veil Falls, Cullasaja Falls, Bust Your Butt Falls and finally Dry Falls.

When we were here last year, the paths to Dry Falls were under construction so we weren't able to view the falls. This year, Rocco enjoyed the meandering trail to the falls ...

... that winds around and passes underneath the falls! He loved the sound and the water, but was limited to getting his zoomies on around my feet. Waterfalls are no place for a dog to run free!

Take a look and listen...

  5. Have you ever gotten to see Cumberland Falls in Kentucky--the place with the moonbows? I think I remember hearing it's one of only two places in the world where you can see moonbows.

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to see it, but, at last check, their campgrounds don't accept RVs as big as ours (no, I'm not sleeping in a tent even for this), and their lodging doesn't allow pets (no, I'm not leaving my dogs home either).

I'd like to know someone that's been lucky enough to see it to figure out if it's really worth renting a smaller RV to go see it: http://www.2geton.net/martin/moonbow/moonbowschedule.html

    1. I just read the info again. They've changed it from what it had been before & the Lodge has pet rooms now! I just hope they don't have size-limits like some places! Also, it's added other places where moonbows can be seen.

  6. That looks beautiful! We were at the falls in April, but they were frozen (I know living in MN is odd), I wanted to jump in the creek leading up to them but Mom said no way. You are correct that falls are no place for dogs to run free! We like waterfalls, this is a good reminder we need to go visit some more in the area!

  8. What an absolutely gorgeous walk! You're right... waterfalls are no place for dogs to run free. But a nice scenic walk is always fun too.
