We received this nifty infographic that helps remind all of us that treats and anything "extra" like table scraps all count toward your pet's daily caloric allotment.
Of course that sounds obvious, but if 55 percent of U.S. dogs and cats are overweight then I'd say someone is being overfed and under exercised! It's kind of like saying that food eaten by humans standing up doesn't count. EVERYTHING counts, so make sure to help keep your pet healthy by measuring their food and counting in treats and snacks too.
Our FitDog Friday co-host SlimDoggy has a neat app that can help you keep track. Check it out here after you wander through the infographic and then, head on over to see all our other pals participating in FitDog Friday!
The "Overweight Pets" visualization was created and shared by PetSafe.
The fun and games continue every Friday with FitDog Friday, the weekly Blog Hop brought to you by To Dog With Love, SlimDoggy and Peggy's Pet Place to promote a healthy active lifestyle for pets (and their people, too!) and to help combat pet obesity. Join in every Friday by linking up your FitDog story or visiting the blogs in the Hop.
Like the infographic Rocco, fun AND educational, always a good combination for FitDog Friday. Will need to share that with our friends.
ReplyDeleteYikes not showing that to my peeps LOL. Have a fabulous Friday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
That is a great infographic! Our doggies fall within a good weight range so we are thrilled about that!
ReplyDeleteGreat infographic! Love this Blog topic. X Talent Hounds
ReplyDeleteGreat infographic! I don't think I've ever had an overweight (or underweight) dog. Maya & Pierson are perfectly fit. They get scraps as treats once in a while. But since we generally eat healthy, the scraps are too. Most recently, I accidentally dropped a piece of carrot on the floor. Maya went to sniff it and gave me this look, "Are you kidding me?". But she picked it up and ate it anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat infographic! We're really bad about being mindful of this. We do share nibbles of our dinner - not unhealthy stuff (like last night they got nibbles of my baked cod with no breading), but nevertheless, the calories add up.
ReplyDeleteWe have to remember that if we're going to share, then we need to subtract some from their dinner.
Good infographic and a great reminder Rocco...Gizmo's cookie rations are very much determined by how much exercise we've had that day..
ReplyDeleteMama almost never gives us kitties and pups human food! Me-Ommmmmm
ReplyDeleteThat's a great infographic! There's a lot of information on there and it's cute and fun too. It's sad that the percentage of overweight pets is so high though! We try to keep on top of our pet's weight, but I've seen so many people that don't, and so many that just don't take it seriously either.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you write and share your nice! Very interesting and different! Keep it coming!
