Chicago Dog Walk in Lincoln Park at Belmont Harbor

Rocco and I spent last weekend in Chicago for Mother's Day and we had the chance to meet up with Dolly the Doxie and her mom Sandra for a fun dog walk in Lincoln Park at Belmont Harbor. We're glad we walked the day we did, since the rest of the weekend was cold, windy and rainy. Uck!

Lincoln Park runs along the lakefront and we typically walk through a different part of the park, on the park's southern edge, so it was fun to see something different.

The first thing we saw was the dog park at Belmont Harbor. It was a Friday so it was pretty quiet with just one dog and his girl throwing a ball for him.

We walked past the dog park to a really cool playground with boats! Looks like Rocco's driving is making Dolly a little seasick!

Here's another view of the boat park with the real boats in the background.

We walked a little further to a path along the lake. You can see the John Hancock building in the distance along with Lake Point Tower and Navy Pier.  Lincoln Park is seven miles long along the lake, and it's one of my favorite things about Chicago, during the warmer months!

It started to feel kind of hot, but Rocco and Dolly were too busy to notice, wondering where their next treat would come from!

Oh, here it comes! Luckily, Sandra had a good supply!

At the end of our walk we saw this enormous totem pole! Can you find Rocco? Here's what the plaque says about this authentic Indian totem pole.

We were lucky to get in this walk on the day we did. It was so cold the rest of the weekend, Rocco didn't even want to go outside. I think he was glad to get home to sunny Atlanta.

Are you enjoying good dog walking weather in your neck of the woods?

  4. How fun to hang out with friends in Chicago. The park and lake look stunning. Walking the dogs is a great way to get out and explore. We posted our walk today too. We also had a few great days mixed in with cold again in Toronto. I have the fire going today but it's meant to warm up again tomorrow.
