Hatch Carrier Lets You Safely Comfort Your Pet

The red panel features the patented Direct Reach hatch,
so you can reach in a pet your small dog or cat without risking their escape

This is a sponsored post. As always, all opinions are our own.

I travel a lot with Rocco and so I'm always on the hunt for the perfect pet carrier. So when news of the new Hatch carrier landed in my email box, my interest was officially peaked!

This carrier is different than others in that it features a patented Direct Reach hatch, which allows you to safely reach inside the carrier to comfort your small dog or cat without risk of escape.  Rocco is an extreme escape artist -- open the carrier zipper a millimeter and he's out as quick as you can say genie in a bottle! A good scritch around the ears also helps him relax, so we think the hatch feature is amazing!
The easy-to-turn knob can be set to open or closed to prevent any chance of escape

Inventor and co-founder, Jon Mirsky, a Georgetown Law-trained animal advocate, was inspired by the experiences of his beloved golden tabby cat, Junior, a once able traveler who began to struggle on trips as he aged. Like many other pet parents, Jon would open the zippers on his carrier to comfort his friend, but that often resulted in the still mighty 15-pound tabby forcing his way out of the bag.

No, that's not Rocco, but he'd look equally as cute in this bag!
Recognizing the benefits of maintaining the connection between pet and pet parent even on the road, Jon invented an access system that eliminates potential dangers while maintaining the human pet bond. To bring this innovative carrier to the market, Mirsky founded Hatch with product launch professional Anjali Kalyani, who holds a PhD in Neuroscience and an MBA from The Wharton School.

With the help of designer Jed Crystal, veteran of Mophie, Samsonite, Case Logic and his own pet product line, Hepper, Hatch has created a carrier that combines safety and comfort with a sleek look and ease-of-use.

Some of the features we love

  • Patented Direct Reach hatch
  • Custom molded EVA base
  • Custom padded shoulder strap
  • Interior Luxury Pet Bed is removable and machine washable
  • Entire front panel and both ends open for easy pet loading
  • Large zipper pockets on both sides
  • Ballistic 1680d Cordura® nylon exterior
  • Large open air mesh windows on side and ends for excellent ventilation
  • Seat belt straps for safe car rides
  • Roll-aboard luggage handle strap
  • Packs flat for easy packing and storage
  • Dimensions: 13” high, 19” long, 11” wide
  • Top can be compressed down to 11″ high when needed
  • Suggested maximum pet weight: 13-15 lbs.
This flight-approved pet carrier meets the requirements of most major domestic U.S. airlines and I also love that it packs flat. It's also made of super durable and water-resistant, military grade ballistic nylon (Cordura® 1680d),  providing rain and wind protection plus scuff and tear resistance. Durable, claw resistant large mesh windows provide ventilation and two-way viewing so pets and owners can keep an eye on each other.

The only downside to the Hatch? You'll have to wait until April to use one, but the good news is you can order one now and be the first on your block to have one!

For more information on the Hatch Carrier and to order, visit Hatch Carrier for Cats and Dogs on Kickstarter. They've already reached their goal, but they've added a few more early bird specials so you can still get in on the special discounted advance pricing, while it lasts.

  2. This looks like a great product—most pets are escape artists!

  3. If my mom could sew three together end to end, these might work for me and I would then need to have Mom fly with two friends on a plane with rows of three seats together. This has me thinking! Sometimes being a small dog would simply be easier!

  4. What a cool carrier! Unfortunately, there's just no way Missy & Buzz would fit into one, they're just "slightly" too big ;-) If I had a small pet, I'd definitely consider getting this Hatch Carrier. My mother-in-law has two Shih-Tzus though, so I'll make sure she becomes aware of it!
