PAW5 Rock 'N Bowl Review: Rocco Says it Rocks! #PAW5Launch

Rocco digs right into the new PAW5 Rock 'N Bowl

Anyone who thinks small, fluffy dogs were bred to be lap warmers, doesn't know Rocco!

Rocco may be small, and he may be a fluff ball,  but he's all dog, just like his ancestors who had to forage and hunt for their own food.

That's why I was pretty darn sure he was going to love the PAW5 Rock 'N Bowl, even before he tried it. Rocco loves his enrichment activities. Agility, hiking, playing hide 'n seek... these all make Rocco a happy and well adjusted dog.

The PAW5 Rock 'N Bowl makes Rocco smile. But don't let his sweet face fool you. Take a look at him in action!

Rocco loves to attack this bowl, working for every last drop of food. And that's what it's all about.... giving your dog an entertaining, enriching experience at mealtime that enhances their overall well-being.

How many ways can you say this bowl rocks!

Here's what's rockin' about the Rock ‘N Bowl

Part Bowl. Part Puzzle

• Simply Challenging with an easy-to-fill and fun-to-use design
• Easy to Clean: Design breaks down to 3 dishwasher-safe parts
• Easy on the Eyes: Vibrant and modern colors complement any home
• Perfectly sized: Holds up to 4 cups of food, for any meal and any breed
• Durable construction

Grounded in Sustainability

Every PAW5 Rock 'N Bowl is made in the USA, with FDA-compliant, recyclable plastic that is free of BPA and phthalates. PAW5 is committed to sustainability and uses a manufacturing process that results in almost zero waste.  Learn more about PAW5's approach here.

Backed by Research

Dogs are wired to forage and hunt for food -- it's in their DNA!   The Rock 'N Bowl adds environmental enrichment to their daily routine, building off their natural behaviors and instincts, and turning a 30-second, mindless chow down into an engaging, thought-provoking, playtime puzzle.

And most of all, Rocco says it's super fun to make the bowl rock and roll, causing every last tasty morsel of food to drop out!

Rocco gives the PAW5 Rock 'N Bowl a high five!

Why Enrichment Rules for Both You and Your Dog #PAW5Launch

Rocco combines balancing with hiking during our trip to Fort Lauderdale last week

We've been busy this week planning for next week's #PAW5Launch Twitter party, where we're helping support the launch of PAW5, a new company that's all about enriching the lives of dogs and the people who love them.

It's gotten us thinking about enrichment activities and why they're so important for both you and your dog. We all know the benefits of getting out and getting active with our pups. Not only is the physical activity good for both, but so is the mental stimulation and simply the act of clearing your head to help make room for new thoughts and ideas.

Both Pups and Humans Benefit from Enrichment

Rocco and I love a good hike, playing agility and doing tricks training. Enrichment activities can make both our lives more meaningful, not to mention helping keep Rocco from getting bored, antsy or even depressed. And it helps us humans too, in much the same way.

What's also interesting is that dogs need both social interaction AND time for solo play. And BOTH help enrich your dog's life and your relationship with them.

Leading a balanced life for health and well being

Here are some tips for both types of enrichment activities, inspired by the folks at PAW5.

Interactive enrichment

These are the activities that you and your dog do together the help build your bond and a healthy lifestyle. They also help to promote trust and good communication between you and your pup.

• Physical Fitness -- activities like running, walking, swimming and hiking
• Training -- basic training (like manners and obedience skills) and tricks training (our favorite!)
• Sports -- agility tops our list, and there are lots of other favorites like nose works, disc dogs and flyball
• Games -- we love problem solving games like find it or hide 'n seek

Solo play enrichment

Equally important is the time your dog spends alone entertaining themselves. Enrichment products can provide mental stimulation to aid in their overall well being. A few examples:

• Chews -- I couldn't live without chews. Rocco loves them, they keep him occupied and they're good for his teeth and gums
• Interactive feeders -- we just received the new Rock 'N Bowl puzzle feeder from PAW5 and Rocco LOVES it! Its design encourages thinking, problem solving and fun, and it's fun to watch, too. I'll share more about it next week and you can also learn more at the #PAW5Launch Twitter party. Hope you'll join us!

RSVP for Jan. 13 #PAW5Launch Twitter party! #Giveaway

If you love a fun Twitter party that's filled with goodies and great info to help keep your dog happy, you're going to LOVE our next Event Barkers party! We're teaming up with our Event Barkers co-host at DogTipper.com and the cool folks at PAW5.us to bring you #PAW5Launch next Wednesday, Jan. 13 from 8-9 p.m. ET on Twitter.

What's PAW5 you ask?

It's a brand new company with products that combine mental stimulation and environmental enrichment to support the overall well being of dogs. PAW5 is introducing its first product -- the Rock 'N Bowl -- next week, and if you attend the #PAW5Launch Twitter party, you'll be first to get all the details!

By turning every day activities -- like mealtime --  into rewarding challenges, PAW5 gives busy pet parents a simple way to engage their dogs mentally and physically every day. The PAW5 Rock 'N Bowl builds off dogs’ natural behaviors and instincts to turn meal time into an enriching and rewarding challenge.

The Rock 'N Bowl looks like a standard food bowl but its unique structure makes mealtime more than just a standard experience. Its  patent-pending, Simply Challenging™ design, allows food to be poured directly into the top, as easy as a normal bowl, and then funnels it into a hidden compartment, requiring dogs to paw, nudge, and play their way through mealtime (that’s the challenging part!).

During the next week, leading up to the #PAW5Launch Twitter party, we'll share more about the PAW5 Rock 'N Bowl and some of the cool facts about PAW5, including its commitment to enrichment and sustainability and how its thoughtful product designs are backed by research. Cool!

In the meantime, check out the Rock 'N Bowl in action!

The Rock ‘N Bowl is made in the USA from BPA and phthalate-free plastic, breaks down to three dishwasher-safe parts, and holds up to four cups of food. Available now through the PAW5 website, the Rock ‘N Bowl comes in blue and orange, and retails for $29.95.

Join us at the #PAW5Launch party!

We hope you'll join us at the #PAW5Launch Twitter Party on Jan. 13, where you'll have the chance to win some of the $600+ in prizes for your dog and learn more about PAW5 and its commitment to helping you provide enrichment activities for your dog.
