GPS Collar Device

Does Fido have a tendency to run off after squirrels, or do you have kids who aren't as careful about locking the backyard gates as they should be?

Get a GPS device for your dog's collar, such as the Tagg pet tracking system. This lightweight tracker will send you a text message or an email if your dog escapes your house or wanders outside an area that you have designated.

The Tagg, which starts at $99.95, will help you track down your pet.

Christmas Stocking

Just like the other members of your family, your pet deserves his own stocking to hold his Christmas goodies.

The adorable Gund Christmas Stocking comes adorned with the ever-popular Boo Dog. The best part of this stocking? You don't have to make a special stop at a pet store during the holiday season.

Pick it up while you shop at Macy's on Black Friday. This cute stocking, which sells $24.99, is available online as well.

Portable Water or Dog Food Bowl

Have you been promising to take your dog on long hikes in the new year? Then you'll need a portable bowl — such as the $8.30 Jardin from Amazon.

A number of manufacturers make collapsible, lightweight fabric or nylon versions that are easy to carry in a backpack.

These bowls are also very handy to keep in a vehicle when you are on long drives.

Ultrasonic Dog Toy

Does the sound of your dog's squeaky toys drive you absolutely nuts after a while? Ultrasonic Hear Doggy toy contains squeakers that capture your dog's attention, but you won't be able to hear them. They come in a variety of styles and don't contain messy stuffing.

Petsmart has several for $4.97 and $5.97.

Dog Leash with Flashlight

If your dog loves long walks even at night, but you hate strolling where you can't see, pick up a leash with a built-in flashlight. Your dog will love you for it, and you'll be happy that you won't have to juggle a leash, a flashlight and doggy waste bags.

Hawk brand sells a version for $14.90 on Amazon.

Fun Holiday Dog Gift Idea #BarkBoxGifts

Rocco loves a surprise, especially when it comes in the form of treats or toys and it's delivered right to his doorstep!

We've heard a lot about BarkBox, so we couldn't wait to get our first box of dog goodies this month!

Even the box makes for a great toy, but what's inside is even better!

Tailored to the size of your dog, every box comes stocked with four or more items that can encompass anything from innovative toys and gadgets to shampoos, leashes, and organic treats. Each month is thoughtfully crafted together by the folks at BarkBox, and each item unique from anything they'll ever send in a later box!

All treats are sourced from the USA and Canada, and chews are sourced from the USA, Canada, South America, Australia and New Zealand. We loved the quality of the products that came in our first BarkBox!

Here's a little more about what we found in our first BarkBox!

Pet Lifestyle And You (P.L.A.Y)

We were thrilled to find an item from P.L.A.Y in our BarkBox! We already have a few of their beds and love the quality of their items. Just like their beds, P.L.A.Y's zucchini toy is handmade with the same, strict production standards as infant and children products.  This toy features double-layered AZO-free fabric, double stitching, and stuffing from 100 percent post-consumer recoiled bottles.

N-Bone

We love chews that do double duty -- giving Rocco a nice treat that also keeps him occupied AND helps clean teeth and freshen breath all at the same time! We were pleased to be introduced to N-Bones which should be a nice addition to Rocco's dental chew rotation. The all-natural Pearly Whites chew bone is wheat-, corn- and soy-free.

Bocce's Bakery

Yum! We may need to fight Rocco for these Truffle Mac & Cheese delights! These are cheesy, wheat-free and preservative-free with organic, local ingredients like cheese, turkey, bacon and truffles. This was another new item for us. Thanks BarkBox for the introduction!

Happy Howie's

We use Happy Howie's meat rolls for training, and we've been eyeing some of their other treats but hadn't tried them yet. So these Turkey Sausage Links were another nice surprise! We also love Happy Howie's all-natural treats because you can break them into tiny-sized training portions.

Etta Says

We've also been wanting to try some the Etta Says treats, so thank you again to BarkBox for sending us the 7-inch Crunchy Deer Chew! Lots of their treats are made with novel proteins -- perfect with pups with allergies.

Rocco says, enough of the pictures, let's get down to business and try some of these goodies!

All-in-all, we think BarkBox is a great gift idea -- either for your own pet or for a friend or family member. The quality of each product was super, just as promised, and we look forward to using every one of them!
