USDAA Agility Weekend

Rocco attacks the weaves last weekend!

Last weekend we had a blast at our first USDAA agility trial of the season. Rocco earned his PII titles in Jumpers and Snooker and we also earned Qs (qualifying runs in Gamblers and Standard).

So here's a little more about what all that means!

PII is the Advanced level but the P stands for Performance, which means Rocco jumps a height lower than he measures for in USDAA. The heights in USDAA are generally higher than in AKC agility so I choose to jump him at 8 inches in USDAA (12 inches is the lowest they offer in the regular height category). In AKC Rocco jumps at the regular height because in that organization he measures officially as an 8-inch dog.

So after PII we move up to PIII which is the equivalent of the masters level in USDAA.

Then he looks for the next direction

Gamblers and Snooker runs are courses that consist of different challenges. In Gamblers, there's a challenge where you send your dog out to obstacles so they work at a distance while in Snooker you plan your own strategy for the course to get the most points in a certain amount of time, with no mistakes!

Jumpers is all jumps and tunnels while the Standard course has all the obstacles, much like you might see on tv!

On the table, your dog has to stay in the down position for a count of 5

We're back at it this weekend at an AKC agility trial.
