PawPawty to benefit Santa Paws Drive this weekend!

Come join us for 24 hours of festive fun as this month's PawPawty is being held to assist Santa Paws Drive, the first-ever online toy drive for shelter pets worldwide.

This year, Santa Paws Drive is focusing on shelters and rescues that help special needs and less adoptable pets... FIV+ cats, senior pets, retired Greyhounds, black dogs and cats. These are sweet animals who have been dealt a trickier card in life but still deserve all the love and attention as any other pet -- maybe even more so! Learn more about the Santa Paws Drive shelters here.

When: 2 p.m. ET Dec. 10 - 2p.m. ET Dec. 11
Where: Use hashtag #PawPawty on Twitter
What: To raise toys and cash donations for six SantaPawsDrive.com shelters. There will be 24 hours of festive fun with holiday music, great prizes and furbulous friends
Why: Because special needs shelter pets need some holiday joy too!

Freya, a sweet kitty with arthritis at Belleglen Sanctuary
Special announcement:
All cash donations made during this PawPawty will be matched by Greenies, up to $1,000! You don't have to attend the event for your donation to be doubled, just donate during event hours.

Write a Post update: Pedigree to donate 27,000 lbs of dog food to help shelter dogs affected by Hurricane Irene

#CosmoRules
First, thanks to all our bloggie buddies for rallying to Write a Post and Help a Dog. Thanks to all of you, we collectively wrote 149 blog posts about the Pedigree Foundation which resulted in a donation of 2,980 pounds of Pedigree dog food to shelter dogs who need it most. Woo Hoo! #BloggersRule!

But that's not all! Now, Mars Petcare US is increasing the donation to 27,000 pounds of dog food (that's no typo!) to help shelter dogs in areas impacted most by Hurricane Irene. Mars Petcare will donate the food to RescueBank -- a national pet food distribution organization working to get dog food to where it's needed most in the Albany, New York area.

And, as a way to thank everyone who participated and anyone who wants to help a shelter dog, you can still purchase Dogs Rule gear at a discount at dogsrulegear.com. Just use the promo code BlogPaws10 through September 30 to get a 10 percent discount. AND, it's never too early to start buying holiday gifts, so here's a way to pick up a little something for the dog lover in your family. AND any time you purchase, a portion of proceeds go to the Pedigree Foundation to help shelter dogs who need it most. So everyone wins!

And now, we bring you this message from Betty White, who we also LOVE in Hot in Cleveland! #BettyWhiteRules #BloggersRule #DogsRule!

Blog the Change: Mostly Mutts and Disc Dog Roxy

We recently had the privilege of meeting Roxy, an amazing disc dog who performed at a fundraiser for Mostly Mutts animal rescue at The River Club in Roswell, Ga.

What's even more amazing is that Roxy is a rescue dog who was returned FIVE times before Jac Greenlee discovered her at Mostly Mutts! Jac knew Roxy needed a purpose -- a reason to jump and play with her human teammates. Here, Roxy competes and WINS a USDDN (United States Disc Dogs Nationals) championship title!

And here's a little clip of the action we enjoyed at the Mostly Mutts fundraising event.

Just goes to show, every dog can have his day if he finds the right owner! Jac and Roxy, you ROCK!

AND, you can see Jac and Roxy in action this weekend at the USDDN Disc Dog Nationals and World Finals in Cartersville, Ga.!

You can find your own rockin' dog any weekend at a Mostly Mutts Adoption event. This Saturday, October 16, we'll be at a special Mostly Mutts adoption event from 1 - 4 p.m. at Canine Academy and Playschool, 10th Street and Monroe Drive, at the corner of Piedmont Park in Atlanta. Locations and times for other Mostly Mutts adoption events in the Atlanta area are here.

Blog the ChangeWe're bringing this story to you today in honor of Blog the Change Day, a day designated to spread the word about  the great things our pals are doing to help the anipals who need it most.

Thank you Kim Clune of This One Wild Life and Amy and Rod Burkert of GoPetFriendly.com for bringing us Be the Change for Animals and a way to collectively show the power just one change can make!
