Tips to Keep Your Pet Safe This Spring

April is Pet First Aid Awareness Month and the folks at Wag’N Enterprises, the pet emergency experts, offer a few tips to help keep your pets safe this season and all year round.

1. Initial response and care is vital, says Wag'N Enterprises founder Ines de Pablo. To learn vital pet life-saving skills, consider attending a pet first aid class. PetTech offers classes nationwide from trained instructors and Wag’N Enterprises offers pet CPR, first aid and care classes in the Washington, D.C. area.
2. Keep important pet lifesaving phone numbers both in your cell phone and displayed on paper copy in a prominent area of your home and vehicle. Important numbers include your primary veterinarian as well as emergency veterinarian's phone number, the ASPCA Poison Control Center Number (888) 426-4435 and the National Poison Control Number (800) 222-1222.
3. Invest in the PetTech Pet Saver App, available for iPhone, Android phones and Windows 7 phones. The app covers topics such as CPR, heat and cold injuries, choking, snake bites, how to transport an injured pet and more. While not a replacement for first-hand pet first-aid training, the app offers a handy health and safety resource.

We discovered an adorable new boutique in the Virginia Highland neighborhood of Atlanta.  The Indie-Pendent is loaded with hand-crafted items for your home and they offer classes and workshops so you can learn to do it yourself!

Designing a Pet-Friendly Home with FLOR Carpet Squares

We love finding pet-friendly decor options, especially when they are both functional AND stylish.  So when we saw photos of the new FLOR styles, we were excited to check them out in person.

Lucky for us, there's a FLOR showroom in Atlanta. So Cosmo and I set out to look at all the new styles, and Cosmo made himself right at home!

What's unique about FLOR is that it comes as a system of carpet squares. So if you have little mishap in one are of the rug, you can remove that square to clean it in the sink. Or if it's a REALLY bad accident, you can replace it with a brand-new square.

The FLOR squares connect to each other (not your floor!) with FLORdots, so you can be really creative with them to make rugs of any size and design. It's a super easy DIY project or you can use their installation service. 

We love the practicality of FLOR, but what's really surprising is the number patterns, textures and colors from which to choose.

Dining Out With Dogs: Lunch with Cosmo Havanese at Star Provisions

Cosmo Havanese had a nice lunch out at Star Provisions in Atlanta today. Ok, this wasn't really his lunch, but he did get to enjoy hanging out in the courtyard area.

Here's what it looks like from the other side. There's a nice, urban courtyard setting with shops and restaurants in the West Midtown area of Atlanta, and everywhere (except for inside the restaurants) is dog-friendly!
